Heat first, cold second. That is the sequence supported by the majority of research and used by most practitioners for post-training recovery.

The reason is physiological. Heat opens your blood vessels and drives circulation into muscle tissue. Cold constricts them and flushes metabolic waste back out. Before or After a Workout?
